Hello! My sincerest apologies for the weather, I did have a word but it seems there is very little to be done about it.

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Scott Laing Esq. and I am a professional massage therapist known as The Massage Guy, working from my quiet premises in the heart of Edinburgh.

We spend our lives hunched over desks, computers, steering wheels or lurching through busy streets, and although we know that we must keep our body healthy, we often rarely consider our need to relax. This is where I can help.

I have several options to suit your schedule and needs. My goal is to help you relax both physically and mentally as best as I can in the time you have available. All massages are on a heated, comfortable massage table with warmed towels and hot oil. “Pure indulgence”, I have been told.

Want to go into more detail?  Certainly, just get in touch.

My Services:

I pride myself on being flexible and if you are looking for something a little different, please do ask.

Back, Neck and Shoulder (£20).  This 30-minute massage will help work out knots and tension from your back and shoulders and relax the neck. Perfect for a quick-fix.

Full Body Massage (£30). My most popular option, this 60-minute massage from head to toe allows you to relax and unwind. Focus can be paid to any areas that are causing you discomfort.

90 Minute Massage (£40). 90-minutes of head to toe massage on a heated table with warmed towels and hot oil to help ease away knots, tension and stress. I’ll focus on any areas that are giving you discomfort before letting you unwind with classic Swedish massage techniques.

1. Book An Appointment

You can either call me, send a text message, or e-mail – whatever is easiest for you.

If this is your first ever massage and you feel unsure or intimidated by one, you are very welcome to arrange to meet me in my office where I will talk you through what happens.

I will do my very best to put you at ease, answer any questions and give you peace of mind before your first appointment. This is completely free of charge; there is no obligation. Or, if you know how it all works, feel free to move straight on to step 2.

2. Your Arrival

Before we start I will ask a few questions regarding your physical comfort and find out whether there is anything specific you’d like me to focus on. Please remember that your comfort is my priority. So feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I’ll talk you through exactly what will happen before  giving you an opportunity to orientate yourself in the room and to get comfortable on the massage bed. I’ll wait outside until you’re ready and then we’ll get started.

3. Your Massage

Just lie back and relax and let me do all the work. Whilst I may ask one or two questions as we go, don’t worry about making small talk. Forget about me and allow yourself some peace of mind.

Either set to a background of relaxing music, or even your own playlist, your massage will help relax tension and physical strain whilst you rest and forget about the world around you.

Depending on which you choose, your massage will take 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Please allow extra time for our initial conversation and at the end.

4. Recuperate

So the massage is over, but all you want to do is lie there and relax. Feel free. Take your time returning to reality and I’ll pop out of the room.

Once you feel ready to get up and redress you can always take a few minutes to relax before facing the world again.

Water is available at all times and if you’d like a tea or coffee to go, just let me know.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is a massage painful? This depends on you and on your goal. You are in complete control, so if you’re simply looking to relax for a while then of course it will not be painful.  But, if you want me to leave you feeling more flexible and relaxed for a longer period, then some knots can be a little uncomfortable when being worked out.

Does body hair chafe? I use a professional blend of oils which glides smoothly over body hair.

How long should I expect a massage to take? In order to give yourself time before and after the massage, I recommend allowing an extra 15 minutes on top of your massage appointment.  If you are short of time, please let me know and I’ll ensure a prompt treatment.

I’m shy about my body. Can you put me at ease? I understand, and there is no need to worry. I keep your modesty covered at all times. If you’d like to book a free, no-obligation consultation I can talk you through the massage and discuss what you would and would not like to happen. My aim is your comfort and total relaxation. At no point should you ever feel self conscious. This is your time and your space to relax.
